I work on a project called somewhereto_ which provides young people aged 16-25 with the space they need to do the things they love in their local areas - be it physical space or digital space. We’re currently teaming up with the BT Tower to showcase some short animations on the famous LED screens on the tower. It’s the most famous digital space in the UK and we want young animators and digital artists to submit short animations to be in with the chance of having their work showcased to thousands of people in our nation’s capital. Attached is a press release and flyer - if you think this is an opportunity that your students would be interested in, please forward them on. The flyer has all of the competition info on it, including how and where to enter. It’s open to young people nationwide aged 16-25. If you have any further questions, please dont hesitate to contact me. We look forward to receiving some wonderful entries from Nottingham Trent students! Many thanks, Amber & the somewhereto_ team. www.somewhereto.com www.somewhereto.com/BTTower www.twitter.com/somewhereto_

MI: YGAward 2011 - Find out the Winners & Finalists now!

From: YGAward - YoungGuns [mailto:kristian@ygaward.com]

A word from our 2011 Jury Chairman - Toby Talbot

YoungGuns continues to confound me as an award show. It’s in its eleventh year. The first YoungGuns are now middle aged in advertising years. Which in turn makes me prehistoric, but let’s not dwell on that.

There’s something quite elitist about YoungGuns. Anyone can enter Cannes. Anyone can enter D&AD, One Show, the lot. But not just any old creative can enter YoungGuns.

The criteria is quite specific. It’s any young creative.

You have to have youth on your side and yet, paradoxically, your ideas have to show incredible maturity.

That’s why it’s such a great show.

When I judged YoungGuns a few years ago, I remember two things from those few days.

It was by far the most talented jury I have ever had the pleasure to sit on.

And the work was amazing. It challenged the status quo. As a specific award for young, emerging talent, it showed where our industry was going with ideas that were naive but brilliant, audacious but real.

Actually, three things. The hotel was shit where we judged. Guess you can’t have everything.

Join the YoungGuns alumni and enter now>

Toby Talbot - Group Executive Creative Director, DDB Group New Zealand

2011 YoungGuns Award Party

In 2011 the YoungGuns Award Party is coming to you wherever you are.

Whoever is named the 2011 YoungGun of the Year, YoungGuns will be coming to your local turf to throw the 2011 Award Party.

We will celebrate the best young talent globally with you, the YoungGun of the Year, as the guest of honour.

Who knows where the party will be, coz we don’t. Our last 10 YoungGuns of the Year have come from the USA, UK, South Africa, Australia and Malaysia.

All you have to do is have great ideas (which we know you do) and enter (which is easy)

Good luck and look forward to celebrating with you somewhere on the planet.
By participating in this short survey<http://creativeindustriesktn.org/beacons/pg/mailer/url/305462/h7>, you also have the opportunity to place your organisation on the map.
In the second in our series of CIKTN members' perspectives on 'The Internet of Things', Dr Chris Speed describes an intriguing Digital Economy/ EPSRC funded research project that records social histories. By attaching web content to objects through QR barcodes, the codes, when read, reveal a story about the memories behind the object. The TOTeM project presents an example of how the association of old memories to secondhand goods can boost the value of artefacts.
The competition is all about using Creative Suite Student and Teacher Edition (there are free trials available for all) to produce a genuinely unique and original piece of creative design. There is no set category or theme and all forms of design are appreciated as long as they are created using Adobe software. There will be some high profile judges involved and a really impressive £10,000 grand prize for the 3 overall winners. If you think this is something that your students would be interested in please feel free to get in touch and I can forward on a media pack that contains more information about the competition. Trampoline seeks an intern(s) to support the planning and project management of the Tracing Mobility exhibition, which takes place from 24. November to 19. December 2011 at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.
The Organisation
Trampoline is an Agency for Art and Media formed in 1997 based across Berlin (Germany) and Nottingham (UK). The organisation supports artists working at the critical edge of new media practice, emerging technology and digital culture. Our output is divided into four distinct areas: Producing, Research, Education and Presentation.

About the Exhibition & Symposium
Mobility has become one of the most important keywords in the discourse on globalisation, techno-economic change or the Information Society. The idea of nomadic, 'mobile' persons supported by spatial mobilisation of capital, goods and knowledge pervades politics and economics, technology and science, advertising and media, commerce and culture. The Tracing Mobility exhibition and symposium present a snapshot of the dynamic topography of this constant being-in-motion.
The 3 week exhibition is comprised of 15 artists, a one day symposium and an open platform event.
